Romney Concedes Florida … Which Means We Now Have an Official Winner For Our Nerd Olympics!!

Mitt Romney has just conceded shortbus state Florida, which once again lagged behind every other state in the nation in counting their ballots (Obama leads by such a small margin there that a recount would have been mandatory by state law). This means that Obama’s total electoral college vote count is 332, but more importantly, it means we now have an official winner for The Daily Dolt’s 1st Quadriennial Political Nerd Olympics.

Everyone, please give a hearty round of applause to one Theo Chen, who was the very first commenter to guess the correct number in our contest. Final results are as follows:

1.)  Our Grand Champion, Theo Chen, guessed — nay, knew — Obama’s electoral total would be 332 at 10:21 a.m.  We are still verifying whether Theo Chen is a wizard and/or has the ability to see the future. 

2.)  538Groupie guessed 332 at 2:18 p.m and also gets a round of applause for demonstrating that they know the total number of electoral college votes — which was also mentioned in the original article, but whatever.  538Groupie is no Theo Chen, so we’ll cut them a little slack.

3.)  Ilse Albert-Lieberthal guessed  332 at 2:58 p.m.  Bonus points for having a really cool name.

4.)  Jeremy Pearson guessed  332 at 3:48 p.m.  Jeremy Pearson claims he actually guessed the correct number one week before contest commenced.  If he can prove this, we are willing to name him co-champion with Theo Chen. Otherwise, pics or it didn’t happen, bro.

All four winners will receive an official Daily Dolt T-shirt and beer mug, neither of which have been designed or manufactured yet but we’re working on it. Theo Chen, you will be getting an extra bonus prize, too, since you are Grand Champion.  We have not decided what the bonus prize will be yet, but it will probably be pretty lame.
