Squeeeeeee!!!!!!! November 6! It’s finally Election Day, you guys! Unless you speak Spanish, in which case El Election Dia es an 8 Novembre. No voto until Thursday, por favor.
Let’s place bets on how many electoral votes each candidate will receive. We’re willing to offer a prize, but we have no idea what you guys would want that we can afford. Um, we have an extra pair of ear buds around here somewhere? A bag of dry cleaning? Is this appealing to anyone? No?
Okay, how about a Daily Dolt beer mug and T-shirt? We haven’t actually had either of these items made, but we’ll make them especially for you. Or, you know, just suggest a prize in the comments and we’ll try our best to make it happen.
Just as a reminder, there are 538 electoral college votes, and the candidates need 270 to win. As a starting point, Obama has 185 electoral votes that are considered a lock, while Romney has 180 solid red state votes. If you add in the states that are considered “leaning” one way or the other, then Obama is at 223 and Romney at 206. Here are the remaining 8 “toss-up” states and their respective electoral votes:
Easiest Method:Just add your guesses for these states below to the Obama at 223 and Romney at 206 totals (but you can add it up however you want if you think some of the “leaning” states are going to go the other way).
Colorado- 9
Florida- 29
Iowa- 6
New Hampshire- 4
Ohio- 18
Pennsylvania – 20
Virginia- 13
Wisconsin- 10
Put your guesses in the comments. All bets must be placed by 6pm tonight. You’re allowed to guess the same number as any other commenter, including us.

Nah, Romney wants to believe Pennsylvania is a toss-up, but Pennsylvania goes Democrat on the top of the ticket. I just don't see that changing this year.

I doubt it too, but Romney is hyping Pennsylvania as being close. Who knows… people can guess how they want.
Now go place your bet, Tracey!!! ;)

Nah, I don't know the politics of other states well enough to take a guess. But I know the mid-Atlantic, and I knew Romney wasn't going to touch that area, especially not after Obama was so responsive to Sandy.
But speaking of delusions… I certainly hope you're going to write something about Donald Trump's psychotic episode on Twitter last night.

Obama 342

Obama will sweep the swing states , squeak out Florida and win Nevada for a whopping 342 electoral votes and 53 + % of the popular vote

Obama 332

I made this prediction about a week ago and you will see Nate Silver's map looking more and more like mine, over the last few days. Thanks.

Yikes, my numbers are too close for comfort.
Obama: 278
Romney: 260
I am not going to be happy if my home state of Ohio goes for Romney. I hope Nate Silver is right!
